About Shion
Shion is a Sydney-based flautist whose work explores the flute as a voice for storytelling, colour, and intimacy in live performance.
Alongside orchestral and chamber appearances, she curates recital programs that aim to reshape the concert experience into something closer and more immediate—where audience and performer share the same musical space.
Her performances range from standard repertoire to thoughtfully constructed programs designed for smaller, more personal venues. She is currently expanding her recital work across Sydney.
Alongside performance, Shion teaches flute to students of all ages with a focus on confidence, curiosity, and collaborative music-making. Drawing from her experience in chamber music, she encourages students to develop strong listening skills, musical independence, and expressive playing from an early stage.
During school holidays, she also runs intensive “boot camp” workshop days designed to immerse students in ensemble playing, musicianship, and focused musical development in a supportive and engaging environment.
